About   JMJ GLOBAL SCHOOL

JMJ Global School, Tenali, is one of the organizations of the Society of J.M.J.(Jesus Mary Joseph), which was started in Holland in 1822 by Rev.Fr. Mathias Wolff S.J., with the aim of promoting education. The Society extended its services to Indonesia, India, Rome, Australia, Africa and America.

Rt. Rev. John Allen, the Arch Bishop of Madras, invited the JMJ Sisters to Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, to develop the women through education in 1904.The JMJ Sisters spread through various parts of India.

Rev. Sr. Stanislaus Swamikannu Pillai was the architect of education apostolate in India. The JMJ Global School os one among forty schools in Andhra Pradesh, was inaugurated in June-2013 and upgraded to high school.

Brief Information :

The Society of JESUS MARY and JOSEPH was founded by Rev. Fr. Mathias Wolff. S.J. in the year 1822 in Holland for the education of young girls. The seven Dutch missionaries arrived in Guntur, A.P India on February 24th 1904. In 1962 the Indian province obtained autonomy to certain extent and the formation of three autonomous provinces - Bangalore, Guntur and Hyderabad took place in July 1987. The Society of Jesus Mary Joseph, India celebrated the triple jubilee on 2021 :190 Years of foundation - Society of JMJ, the Netherlands, Golden Jubilee of the Autonomous - Indian Province and Silver Jubilee of Guntur, Hyderabad and Bangalore provinces. The fourth province - Raipur ahs been born in the year 2009 which comprises the north region of India - bifurcated from Hyderabad Province.

The Society has 2,287 members working in various countries such as Netherlands, Indonesia, Africa, Rome, America and India. The Charism of the society is “Ever Adaptable Apostolic Availability”. According to the needs of the time and places, the society takes up various apostolates. The members devote themselves to medical, Educational, Pastoral and social works.

A Century ago, the society of JMJ that made a humber beginning with just seven Dutch Sisters, today has four provinces in India with 764 members and 42 novices. The sisters belong to 90 communities all over the country, serving in 130 institutions like schools, college of nursing, health centres, social work centres for development of women and tribal’s, community colleges for dropouts, homes for the aged, handicapped, integrated school for the blind and lepers.

The JMJ Society in India is ever ready and open to the signs of the times to spread the kingdom of God in the Indian Society.
